Americans Are Wasting Water During A Water Crisis

Day after day, we use water without ever thinking twice about it.

Americans aren’t the only people in the world who waste water, but we do waste a lot more than other countries. Granted, in most areas, we have plenty of water, but that may not always be the case.

The Washington Post says that Americans waste 1 trillion gallons of water each year, which is nine percent of the total amount of water needed to end the drought in California and the same amount that is in Lake Okeechobee in Florida.

According to Forbes and the Pacific Institute, the average American uses about 70 gallons of water per day while the average Gambian uses 1 gallon and the average European is somewhere in the middle.

We are letting faucets drip, pipes leak, baths run, and toilets lose water due to inefficiencies – all of these things in homes across the country are contributing to the 1 trillion gallons of wasted water each year.

It’s not easy to change our habits when we can’t physically see how they are affecting our daily lives. That’s why Ark Labs is using technology and water innovation to show each and every homeowner, business owner, and building owner how much water is being used in their space.

It will take each American being water conscious to reduce our water consumption and move us out of being third in the world when it comes to water usage, just behind China and India.
